Meetings,  Activities and Events

The Tucson Organic Gardeners meets the third Tuesday of each month from September through April. At 7:00 pm we Meet and Greet one another and have our Gardeners Question Time. The program will start about 7:30 pm. Doors open at 6:45pm. The meetings will be at St. Marks, in the Geneva Hall (see map below) so park in the lot off 2nd Street.

Meeting location:  St. Mark's is located just southwest of the Speedway / Alvernon intersection off 2nd street.

September 20, 2011 :  MEETING
    Fall Planting  
            
by  Reggie Smith, of Westwind Seeds and Gardenscapes.
      His  Topic will focus on the best plant varieties and planting techniques for a successful fall garden.
                    The meeting will be in the Geneva Room.  Park on lot off 2nd street.

October 8, 2011: Event:  Compost Class 

   Turn yard / food waste into a rich garden amendmanet. 
   Time:   10am  - noon.

October 18, 2011: MEETING
Herbs

She is a long time TOG member, a master gardener and a master composter.
Her topic will focus on growing and using herbs.
The meeting will be in the Geneva Room. Park in the lot off 2nd Street.


November 6, 2011:   EVENT
MARANA FOOD BANK FARM TOUR.
Meet at the farm at 12 noon for potluck lunch, followed by farm tour at 1PM. We plan to carpool from St. Mark', so check the "Composter" for further details.

 

November 15, 2011:   MEETING
         TOG’s 40th Birthday Party!!
Join us for a traditional potluck. Bring your favorite meal items to share.
Meal will be followed by long time members, active when TOG was just starting, share their comments on what it was like to be organic back in the 70’s when the movement was in its infancy.  The meeting will be in the Geneva Room. Park in the lot off 2nd Street, or watch for signs.



December 20, 2011:
   MEETING 

     Effective Microorganism (EM) Technology, an Introduction.
 
                 
by Eric Lancaster.
Vice President of TeraGanix, Inc (formerly EM America). Topic will focus on the use of microbial inoculants, as a solution to better gardening, composting, personal health, household maintenance, farming and stewardship of the environment.
         The meeting will be in the Geneva Room. Park in the lot off 2nd Street.
 


January 14, 2012--    EVENT:  COMPOST EXPO
Time:  10a.m. --  2p.m.
Where: Community garden on west side of St Mark's Presbyterian Church.
A variety of compost vendors will be available selling compost.

  MEETING
    Growing Healthy Fruit trees in Tucson

She is one of TOG's founders and a long time TOG member.
Topic will focus on selecting the best tree varieties and planting techniques for a successful orchard here in Tucson.
      The meeting will be in the Geneva Room. Park in the lot off 2nd Street.

    Companion Planting

She is a Master gardener and author of “A Desert Gardener’s Companion”.
Topic will focus on Companion Planting, the use of one plant to enhance fruit production or protect another plant.

April 17, 2012:  MEETING  -- Annual Board Meeting and Speaker
NEW board members will be voted on at this meeting.  Please come at 7pm to vote.  Voting closes at 7:25pm and our speaker will begin at 7:30pm.  Please bring snacks to share.
