DESCRIPTION:Workshop is Full\nFree Members-Only Hands-On Tree Cloning Workshop \nOn Sunday\, February 8th from 10 AM – 12 PM at the home of our club member\, Richard\, on E. Arroyo Chico in central Tucson\, we will be holding a free tree cloning workshop! Richard is a long-time resident of Tucson and is a local expert in cloning trees and growing native plants and trees adapted to the Tucson region. \nThe event will be located on Richard’s backyard and there will be a ramada to use use if it rains. This workshop is limited to 12 people. \nRichard will supply: Mission Fig Tree Cuttings and Wonderful Pomegranate cuttings\, and Dip and Grow Rooting Hormone from EcoGro to take home. \nParticipants should bring: a sharp pair of hand pruners\, metal wire and an aluminum pie tin for making plant tags (metal hangers and aluminum cans work well)\, 4” or Dixie Cup size plant pots with drainage holes with potting soil (Richard’s favorite potting soil for this purpose is hydrated Coconut Coir from EcoGro or similar with some perlite\, sand\, or vermiculite for drainage) sufficient for the number of cuttings they want to take home\, one or two cuttings per plant pot. \nIf you are not sure if your membership is current\, email us at tucsonorganicgardeners@gmail.com and we can verify it for you. \nIf you would like to join our club or renew your membership\, it is just $15/year. DESCRIPTION:General Meeting at St. Mark’s Presbyterian\, Knox Room and via Zoom. \n“Aquaponics & Hydroponics” \nSpeaker: Guru Das\, Awareness Ranch \nGuru Das C. Bock is a permaculture designer and natural builder with 20 years of experience in building and design. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from the University of Arizona and permaculture design certification from the Sonoran Permaculture Guild. His work in the Tucson community is focused on sustainable development and regenerative practices. He is a founder of the Development of Regenerative Yield Cooperative (DRY Co-op)\, Awareness Ranch Inc.\, and Anantam Aquaponics. His work is focused on grass roots action to support and enhance the local ecology and culture of Tucson. \nAquaponics is a low water use crop production method that incorporates fish and plants in beneficial relationship. The newest iteration of this is emerging here in Tucson and southern Avra Valley. We will explore desert adapted methods designed by Anantam Aquaponics and implemented by Awareness Ranch. The critical system components will be reviewed with time for questions and answers.

Planting in February allows fruit to form before the summer’s heat shuts down pollination and fruit set. \nSaturday\, February 21\, from 10 am to 1 pm at Rincon Heights Community Garden\, 1047 E. 8th Street\, (1/2 block west of Park Ave.) \n \nSmall plants $2 each and large plants $4.00 each \n50% of proceeds will be donated to the Pollinator Equity Project\, a committee of Sustainable Tucson.
